Default My experience at TWS.......(long)

The driving school at TWS this past weekend was a blast. I can't even begin to explain how much fun I had. The event was well organized and everyone was so nice. This was my first driving event, but certainly not my last. EVERY TT OWNER SHOULD GO TO DRIVING SCHOOL!!!!

The first day I was a little nervous about driving on the course. The professional drivers make it look so easy. After letting my instructor drive my car, it was my turn in the driver's seat. My first 2 sessions were a little rough, but by the end of the first day I was finally getting the hang of it. I decided to take it slow on the first day and really absorb what my instructor was telling me. I think this was helpful in the long run, as I was able to build my confidence throughout the day. This car can really haul a$$ through the turns. Even though I was getting passed by most of the other drivers, I could see huge improvements in my driving. I was so pumped at the end of the day, that I hardly slept that night.

The second day couldn't have arrived fast enough. I couldn't wait for my first session. All night long I had gone over the turns in my head and I was ready to sharpen my skills. All of my sessions on day 2 went very well. I was finally quick enough to pass some of the cars, and was even able to keep up with the more powerful cars (see pictures posted earlier). The highlight of the day was when my instructor decided I was good enough to run solo. They even said I could move up to the next run group at the next event!

Between sessions I got a chance to talk to other drivers and test my skills on the slalom course. With the stock set-up, the TT can move quick through the cones. Even though I was new to the slalom, I could get through the cones at 60mph. Everyone who drove my car on the slalom was suprised at how light it felt and how well it handled. I can't wait to upgrade the suspension.

I have to agree with Robey that the car is NOT unstable. I was taking turns at 90+mph and it never felt out of control. Even when the car was sliding sideways, I could control it as long as I stayed on the throttle. You really can't understand completely until you try it. I was suprised at how I could throw the car around.

Now for the question that you are all asking....."What about the wear and tear on your car?"
There was minimal wear and tear on my TTQ. I could see some new tire wear, and I am sure the brakes are a bit worn, but there is no excessive damage. There is nothing to run into at the track besides plastic cones. The brakes still feel good (not mushy, not squeeky) and the engine is as quiet as ever. Just remember that you decide how hard to push yourself and the car. I pushed it relatively hard on the second day and it held up great.

That is all for now. Check out the pictures I posted earlier.

Later,
Ryan E.

Default "EVERY TT OWNER SHOULD GO TO DRIVING SCHOOL!!!!" I uh said that 2 weeks ago!

When I returned from QCUSA school. I would add that every TTF owner should go too!

Glad you were able to share the experience.

Brothers in arms,
Ivan

Default Not formal. "Business casual" mean anything to you guys in research?

Assuming we are going to Wolfgang's again, although I haven't seen an agenda/plan for this time yet.

I will write Brett and see what I come up with.

Busting chops is great. Being so obtuse about it that I don't get it is another thing entirely.
Ivan
