Default my first burn on ebay...

this isn't audi related, but it sucks none the less. I was hosed for the first time on ebay. bought a gift for someone on ebay, no I'm not cheap, it was a vintage collectors item. paid the dude, he never shipped it. won't return emails. He had a great buying and selling history. He got two negative feedbacks since my purchase, not counting the one I was going to leave tonight, but guess what, he's no longer a registered user. I filed a dispute through paypal so hopefully I will be able to recover my cash. I've bought and sold plenty of stuff on ebay and I'm very cautious about it. This is the first time I've gotten burned. It sucks that *******s like that can screw up a good thing.

Default That does suck... but if someone has a lot of good feedback, and a long history...

... then suddenly flakes-out, there could be a personal reason. Illness, sudden military deployment, family emergency, etc. Or, the dude could actually be... ack... dead. It just seems odd for someone to have built up a good rep, only to ruin it. Was it a high-value item?

Either way, that sucks... sorry man.

Default With so much phishing going on, it's likely....

that good seller's ID's get ripped off and the crooks are using those as fronts to hit people like you.

Can never be too careful but eBay is a great community and source of stuff.

i think if you paid through paypal, you can file to get your $$ back but it's a long process!
good luck!

Default If you paid through PayPal just make sure you tell them you never received any package.

The only way PayPal will help you is if you didn't receive anything. Even if you received an empty box they'll tell you you're out of luck. So make sure you check the box that says "No package received"

Default Yes, I considered that...

but the guy emailed me and said he wanted to have the item professionally packaged so it would make it to me safe. I emailed back and forth with him a couple times for about two days after the auction, but then no more answers. His ebay account remained active buying and selling items and even got a couple positive feedbacks afterwards. So I kind of ruled out that stuff.

Default well...

the item being sold followed the same category as the sellers history, mostly rock and roll memorabilia. He emailed me a couple of times then just stopped returning them. I paid by paypal so hopefully that will help me out.
