Default My spongy brake issues -- RESOLVED!

Well, those who said my mushy pedal problems were due the Mintex pads, you win the prize. ECS sent out some PBR ceramic pads yesterday, the shop swapped them out, and VOILA! The car stops on a dime. All that bleeding and rebleeding was for nothing.

Mintex pads are ****. Stay clear of these!

Here are a few shots. These are brand new Mintex Red Box pads. Front pad:

Rear pad:

Haven't had a chance to really heat them up yet, but so far the PBR pads are fabulous, combined with the ECS slotted/cross-drilled rotors.

Default looks like it was the rears...

which corresponds with others' experiences on here. Mintex Red Box used to be OK (not spectacular) pads... I don't know what the deal is but they need to get these faulty ones out of the warehouses ASAP before someone gets hurt or dies and they get sued.

Default Wow! I guess the Red Box problems continue.

Are you getting a refund or were the PBRs replacements? I had RB years ago and they were great.

Default I just put some on my car a few months back.....I've put over 1K miles

on them and no problems stopping. I have periodically checked them After I have heard some of the horror stories, and mine seem to be holding up fine. I will be keeping a close eye on them to make sure. I would think if they were bad they would have should to be faulty immediately after I put them on. How many mile did you put on yours?

Default Glad to hear that the PBRs are good.

A friend recommended them for me, so I ordered them a while back...I should be putting them on this evening along with some Brembo slotted rotors.

Default I haven't called ECS back yet but I hope so.

I also had to pay the shop another hour of labor for the change-over, so I hope they will reimburse me for that. The shop (who deals quite a bit with ECS) said they should.

Default GRD. Search for posts with my name for the past few days an you will see my multiple posts on this.

I had GRD do my timing belt, rotors, and pads all at the same time while the car was there.
