My thoughts on TT-West 2 (list updated)
#11
I thought it was a suggestion as well. I truly hope it is not in Vegas.
As with probably everyone else, I've been to Vegas. Vegas kinda sucks. It's a very interesting place, but only because it's Vegas, and not because of the group of TT'ers gathering there. Law enforcement in and around Vegas is not tolerant and justifiably so.
I will still attend if it is in Vegas, and will most likely still have a good time. But there are other places that would serve us better in my opinion.

I am pretty sure there are people already working on a TT-West
and the venue was Vegas.
I have also been thinking about something in New
Mexico - I think that fits your bill except not
near any hub, although one thought included a
driving tour of SouthWest Observatories which could
start in Phoenix or Tucson...

chuck guice and gina are the primary organizers - location has NOT been set -other thoughts
A big issue for location is that it has to be drivable for the majority of attendees. new mexico/az is too far for those of us in the northwest. colorado is too far for practically eanyone to drive too.
Yosemite would work, CA coast, jackson hole/yellowstone, etc.

How about Monterey?
Monterey meets all the requirements. First there are ample places to stay and beautiful beaches. For activities, there is wine tasting and the Aquarium. Let's not even mention the amazing golf courses.
Superb food. Try Fandangos for Basque Feast with an exceptional wine list.
Now for back roads. I just drove the Arroyo Seco. A two lane road that starts in Carmel, travels through Carmel Valley. Curves up through the coastal range and ends up in the Salinas Valley. Amazingly beautiful road appropriate for a TT.
Monterey is available via a secondary airport or a one and a half hour drive from the San Francisco Airport.
