My thoughts on TT-West 2 (list updated)

Hmmm, I disagree with the distance argument...
Something in NM, for example, would be easier to
drive to for those in Texas, NM, Colorado, AZ, etc.
than would something in Northern CA. Something in
Southern CA would be easier for those in Northern
CA, but harder for those I mentioned earlier. So,
while I appreciate there are more TTs in CA than in
NM, there are TTs in these other states (TX being
a big one) that would be able to attend more easily
if the location were a bit further East. Some
group will have to drive- I don't think it's
necessarilly better to have Texans drive compared
to Californians....

putting texas in the central, northern ca is actually fairly equal
its 700-900 from the pac. nw and 700-900 miles from phoenix.
your comment about texas raises the issue of the need for tt central.

you know, i think it's somewhat amusing that.............
folks are talking about "too far to drive" for TT West... geez look how far people drove to come to TT East!!! TTigg all the way from the west coast... the Canadian brethren... the Florida Mod Squad... days of travel in many cases.
Hmmmm. ;-)

Excellent Point, Nance.......I've always wanted to drive cross country and this will be an>
outstanding incentive, wherever in the west it may be! Besides, I haven't gotten any tickets lately and I'm sure there's some cute cop out there dyin' to meet me.....
Road Trip!!

But you are only pointing out the rare cases...
You had 130 or so TTs at TTEast and you just pointed out a few who drove really far. The great thing about the east coast is all those states so close together so it's easy to find a whole bunch of people.
Look at how many drove to TTWest last year and what the average distance traveled was. I bet it was at or under 8 hours drive time for most people. The trip needs to easily be made in a day.
Last year we left So Cal at around 6am or so and got to our destination (with many stops along the way) at around 4pm, I think, maybe earlier. So, total real drive time was less than 8 hours.
If you look at the average distance someone travels to come to an event, I would be the drive time is less than 6 hours.

perhaps not common....
but my own drive ended up being 15 hours one way and the "great northeast convoy" had driven much further (30 TTs in our convoy alone) by the time we joined them.
I was just funnin with you left-coasters anyway! I'm aware that we as TT'ers are more concentrated over here.
