My lease is up on my '01 225 TT Q Roadster and I am considering getting an '02 225 Q TT Coupe or a new 1.8T Q A4 with Sport package. Other than the obvious differences what advice/oppinions can you offer? I want to add an APR chip to increase performance of either choice, but I'm not sure if the performance trade off between the A4 and the TT is worth the added convenience of the A4 sedan.

I have both vehicles, my A4 1.8 is APR chipped. it is a nice car to drive if you must tavel with baggage or people. it is a little underpowered even chipped specially after driving the 225 TTR
maybe you should go for the 3.0 6 speed since it has more torque.

I was afraid that even after the APR chip (no upgraded fuel rail) that the A4 would still be lacking in the performance and handling department. It's almost even-money for the two cars and I REALLY love the 225 engine w/ the 6 spd.
Did you get the factory sport package on the A4? I've considerd not getting that option and upgrading the wheels, suspension, and tires myself. Just worried that it might tip off a suspicious dealership during the warrantee period!
Thanks for the input!

A 225 TTR and (my wife's) A4 1.8T Tip with sport package.
Obviously the TT is more fun to drive; only you'll know if you need the space of the A4.
I would definitely recommend the sport package on the A4; our earlier one didn't have it, and the difference is striking. A non-sport A4 dives and rolls pretty severely.
Oddly, the stock TTR has a smoother ride on rough roads and speed bumps than the Sport Package A4: I think the A4 has to have a pretty stiff suspension to control body roll.
