I am looking for a front license plate mounting bracket for a 2002 TT so that I can perform the "magnet trick". I'm clearly willing to pay for it. However, if there is any other way to do this w/o the backing please let me know!

I re-bent two threaded j-hooks so that they hooked through the grill and projected 1/4 inch of thread through the two bottom holes in the license - no frame. Two nuts hold the license against the grill and top lip of the grill opening, fulfilling the requirement that it is securely attached to the car. The license has to mount at a slight forward tilt into the grill opening as it is too wide to fit all the way in. Doesn't matter though, the CA CHP thought it was just fine. Paid the $10 fine and removed the plate - hooks are waiting to leap into action again. I've only been stopped once in 5 years.
