Default Need help: Problem connecting to ECU with Vag...

My car all of a sudden refuses to connect to my ProDiag (Palm-based scanner like Vag-com). I keep getting "ECU not present or not responding" after it retries a couple of times. I've used the ProDiag for several years without problem.

History: After I unplugged the MAF and caused the ESP warning to light up this morning, I turned the car off, plugged the MAF back in, cleared the code and drove to work. When I got to work I wanted to see the fuel trim numbers, so reconnected the ProDiag but couldn't connect to the ECU. I thought it might be a loose cable, but no amount of wiggling or reconnecting it helps. The car runs fine, no CELs. I just checked the scanner on my wife's Passat and it works fine, so I know the Palm, the software and cable are Ok.

I checked fuses and disconnected the battery for about 10 mins hoping to reset things, but no change. What can I check now? How do you check the car when it won't let you check it?

Does the LED on VAG cable light up? If not, probably blew fuse #12 (7.5A mini-fuse).

Default Vag cable lights up green, then red when trying to connect, and back to green...>>

Fuse #12 appears OK to the naked eye and tests out Ok with a multimeter.

Default you know, I just started experiencing this the other day myself..... cable is good

but it tells me the ECU is not present..... think my connection in my palm is shoddy.

Default in my case, I checked the Palm and cable on wife's Passat, so that's not my issue... >>

can you check yours on another VW/Audi to determine if its the car or Palm/cable combo?
