Default Need to replace my winter tires this season. Latest recos?

Well we are heading into fall and rather than wait until I really need them and they are sold out, I am starting to look at new winter tires. I drove for five seasons on one set of Dunlop Wintersport M2s and they were great. Lasted a LONG time too, with a lot of dry pavement miles. But it's been five years since I shopped for winter rubber so I'd like to see what else is out there.

Dunlop has a Wintersport 3D, and Wintersport M3. Anyone know the difference or have any experience with these? I'm also looking at the Pirelli Winter 210 SnowSport. Anyone have any opinions? Or should I just stick with what I know works.<ul><li><a href="http://www.tirerack.com/a.jsp?a=AR4&url=%2Ftires%2Ftires.jsp%3FtireMake%3D Pirelli%26amp%3BtireModel%3DWinter%2B210%2BSnowSpo rt%26amp%3BvehicleSearch%3Dtrue%26amp%3Bpartnum%3D 055HR6210SNOWSP%26amp%3BfromCompare1%3Dyes%26amp%3 Bplace%3D

Default I love the Nokians

Running the Hakkapeliitta 2 and the RSI's. One set on the TT and one on the BMW and both are great. Can't remember which is which and I think I made a mistake when I ordered and got the more "snow" based tire for the TT and the "performance" based set for the BMW. But both are solid performers that never disappointed, only 1 season on each but wear seemed good although hard to judge at this point.

Default Nokian's are the ticket but they are>>>

not cheap Rich...they have really gone up in price in the last year or so...

I am running the M3's in Z rated form...great tire...handles well...i would recommend getting the 225's tho if you run 17's. I bought the 205's and there is bit of shoulder lean in them...other than that...good price...great tire! IMO

I have Blizzak MZ-01 - Couldn't be happier - They glue to the road in nasty weather

Default most tires have gone up in price due to oil barrel prices...but they should start to come down

hopefully, since oil prices are also dropping. i need to get a set as well.

Default Dunlop M3's were great

that's all i've had on the TT so far, I know nokian has a great product. I used to run them on my saab.

M3's feel like a true performance snow tire. good price. wear like iron, i expect to get three seasons out of them. Car was like a tank in 2+ feet of snow last winter. don't expect miracles on ice due to their performance characteristics. nothing will help on ice but studs or a super squishy multi cellular compound that will drive you bananas when it's not so bad out.

my vote goes to the M3 due to price advantage but nokian KNOWS their arctic driving and have for years. but technology and innovation from the japanese can often catch up.
