Need some advice (buying a TT), plus a stereo question b/w 2001 and 2002 swap

I'm thinking I want a 2002 over a 2001 (both 225QR) because of stock cd player, and more time left of waranty. The average price difference I see around here (Denver) is $5000.
If you were me, would you spend the extra 5 grand on a newer(better?) car? Did Audi work out a lot of bugs from the clusters, windows, MAFs, etc between that time?
If I get a 2001, could I get a 2002 stereo with cd and just plug and play? (I'm not down with the lingo of "concert" and "symphony" etc so help me out here.) Did they even make a in-dash cd for 2001?
Sorry if this is a newbie question.

As far as differences between the two model years, they are identical to my knowledge except for a few options:

I just bought a 2001 and I love it. It has a 6-cd changer so no need for an in-dash player. The sound quality is excellent. Personally I'd save the $5000 for performance mods.
