Default need suggestions about resolving a new problem . . . .

All was fine, then I filled up at a cheap-o gas station. Right away, the car hesitated, coughed, sputtered when applying throttle. Idle was rough and spasmatic, although would rev OK in neutral, then sputter in gear. Once underway, would run OK if pedal pressure was constant, sputtered if I asked for more than a very slight throttle increase. Sputter, lurch into power, sputter, and then stall. Managed to make the trip home on the turnpike, cruised at 75 fine. On local roads though, it was a PITA, stalled frequently. I had to restart while moving (and pick the right gear !). No CEL. Maybe dirty fuel leading to clogged filter or injectors ? Would a MAF do this ? Grumble ! Very annoying.

Default Since it happened right after filling up I would suspect bad gas

I would get that gas out of the tank, fill it up at a decent gas staion and see if the problem goes away.

This happened to me once with a previous car.

Default I would say water in the gas......

which goes to the bottom of the tank where it is picked up by the pump. If this is the case, your problem will go away once you've sucked up all the water and are left with only gasoline in the tank. Happened to me more than once. Mine had so much water that the car would not run since it was all water being picked up by the pump. Once I figured what the problem was, I shook the car vigorously to temporarily mix the water & gas. They will always separate if left undisturbed. You may want to shake your car (slalom driving) and see if the problem gets better.

Default Could have lost a hose causing an intake leak also

although I agree bad gas is the #1 suspect.

Default Try this:

<a href="http://drygas.com/"> Drygas</a>

If that doesn't work, check your plug gaps. Coils next.

If you have access to a VAGCOM or liquidTT, see which cylinder is misfiring.

Default Re: I second water in the gas......

HEET Gas-line Antifreeze and Water Remover
This will help remove the water without it coming through in gulps.

really sounds like water in gas. water in large qtys can wreck a fuel pump. If the truck was just there its usually worse. imagine 4000 gallons of gas added to a tank in 20 minutes.

Default Whew! Luckily I don't buy from Lukoil...even though they tend to be a few cents cheaper

I'm a Sunoco/Hess/Exxon kinda guy...in that order of preference.
