Need tech advice on check engine light...
since last Sunday when my check engine light came on, my car has been in limp mode...running on half power...light has been on till this afternoon when it magically shut itself off.. havent vag commed the car, nor have i reset battery or ecu...car is going in for service tommorow. But was under the impression that a cel couldnt be reset without a vag machine and would just reset itself... also car is still slow...but slightly faster than dead slow limp mode..would say about 70% maybe.. Do you think the fault code will still be stored in the ecu? for the tech guy to dwl and fix problem? Is the cel on a timer where even if theres a fault it eventually shuts itself off even though its storing faults? sounds like abit of a stretch but not sure...any ideas?

I was told by the master tech @ Moffitt in Shreveport that once the car threw a CEL, it
would store the code even if the light went out after that.
Good luck -- hope they get it fixed.

yeah my headlights died as well so it should be a fun filled
visit... I would throw money on a dead MAF...it would be number 7...but i will have to see..you know how difficult it is to be driving around with just fog lights??? lol

Seven MAFs???!!!! I finally insisted mine be replaced (thanks to..
Jeff Bipes, john s, Axel, Jim TT, and everyone else who aided me in the diagnosis) after 3 dealership visits. About 150 miles since and no CEL...yet. What I want to know is what have you done to deserve 7 MAF failures. Sure it's a common problem but 7 is extraordinary.
