the economy led does come on after a while by itself. i did try manual mode and it also defaulted to economy. the problems seemed to crop up about 2/3 hours into the trip. no problems on the way back, however, the temps were in the 70s! i did not touch it by accident. i hate to go to a ne dealer so soon after purchase, especially when highland park is so far away!
