Default New ECU with a chip or not....

I am considering (strongly, I might add) chipping my 225TTQC and was wondering what the bennies would be to having the chip shipped with a new ECU. I am surmising that this would offer some warranty protection in that the original could always be popped back in if necessary. Right? Wrong? More to add?

Default It would be wise to get a spare ECU that way you'll always have the option of...

of swapping it when taking your car in. Not all dealers are mod. friendly. Especially when it comes to the main computer.

Default I will wait until I can justify the extra expense for a second computer.

I will not get stuck with AoA telling me my warranty is void because of the chip.

$0.02

You're my inspiration in that decision JulieM! Don't want your experience to befall me too!

Default Check out the deal from AWE (Garrett chip) ...

For $50. extra, AWE will install your stock chip in a "carrier" which then can be used to replace the high performance chip which is socketed into your ECU. I know because I had it installed that way. You don't need to spring for the second ECU. The chips can be swapped whenever you need to. Check out http://www.awe-tuning.com/.

Default Re: New ECU with a chip or not....

i put MTM ecu in about a month ago...i also kept my original ecu($695+$750) $ 1495 total cost.
i wanted my ecu for service visits and maybe even putting original ecu back in for driving in snow and ice....don't need the extra torque for that!!
I have recently decided to sell my 225TTQR wo/esp
and might be interested in selling MTM ecu..!???!
the chip really make a big difference in performance..also considered MTM exhaust..but the
10 extra horses for $1500 didn't seem worth it??
i picked MTM because of there history with Audi..

Default What does MTM say about supporting a chip that has been sold to someone else?

Will they honor all their product support services? warranty?
