Default new exhaust causing "check engine" light...

help...
Just put the Remus exhaust (dual pipe conversion) on my car last Friday, and for the past two days the "check engine" light has been coming on. I brought it to the dealer who immediately hooked up to the computer and said that because of the exhaust there's a whole bunch of error messages (or whatever you call them) showing up. He reset something so that the light went off, but then today the light came back on.

He also said that I'm in jeopardy of voiding the engine warranty...

Is that true? Is there a way to get around these error messages so the light doesn't come on anymore? Or should I just go ahead and put the stock exhaust back on?

Oh yeah, I'm also have a Neuspeed P-Flo and GFB BOV, but those have been on for a couple of months with no error messages (or whatever you call them...)

I know someone out there knows how I can fix this... thanks.

Default You've just gone over the edge....>>>

of the ECU's ability to compensate for your mods. The biggest offender is the BOV. Loose it or convert it to a plumback.

Gas cap on tight? If not, OBDII may read it as a fuel system integrity problem. No sh*t.

Default Ok - so the dealer found codes - did they tell you what they were? Did they even check?

Only thing I could think of is that the 02 sensor was disconnected - but that's on the "Y" pipe not the exhaust. The codes WILL tell you what is wrong and some of them MAY not have been caused by the exhaust but something else wrong with your car! Spend the $200 and get a Vag_Com so that you can know exactly what codes are being thrown and figure out what the problem could be.

Default well, the mechanic guy DIDN'T check...

he just saw the exhaust, immediately hooked up the vag-com, saw all the fault codes and said it was because of the exhaust...

Default From my unfortunate experience, if the dealer can't....

properly diagnose the CEL, they immediately default to your mod and threaten you with a voided warrantly. In my case, it was a faulty MAF and it took me a month to get the part replaced under warranty.

Default You're venting intake air....>>>

to the atmosphere instead of back into the intake tract, confusing the ECU. The ECU thinks you're getting all the air metered by the MAF and setting the Fuel mix by that info. By dumping some of that air, you are now running rich which could account for all the Faults..
