Isn't "bypass valve" synonymous with "diverter valve?"

Default The DV valve shares a vacum line with the combnaitaion valve for the secondary air system. All they

..are doing is a vacum leak down test of that vacum line, if it does not hold vacum a torn divereter valve dyaphram is the probable cause. To make sure they are clamping off the line at the DV valve and if it then holds vacum the DV valve is faulty. The DV is replaced and the ecu is then reset to standard. JIM

Now that we've all figured the bypass system, will someone explain the secondary air system?

No I must have not been exact enough in my word choice, they cleared DTC codes, is that better?

so the black platic box on top of the cam cover is a vacuum storage vessel, just as I suspected ;-)
