Default A new TT? Or something else...

I pretty much already know what the response will be to this question, but I'm going to ask anyways.
I have only a few months left on my lease and I need to make a decision. Either I will buy another TT (this time a 225 coupe) or get another kind of car. Its so tough. I love my TT, but I don't like the spoiler and I think they are a bit underpowered for the price. Also there would be the hassle of swapping out my control arms and re-chipping the new one (start from scratch with the mods).

I must admit, I've been eyeing the Honda S2000 (I noticed we recently had a defector), and while the TT is way more practical, it would be nice to have a convertable.

Anyways, I am leaning towards getting another TT (what color though?) and I just need a little more convincing...

If you're even remotely serious about an S2000, make sure you get an '02 or '03

Default SLK 32 AMG... power, style, looks, handling...

Or Firebird Trans Am WS6 convertible. Prob low 30's loaded. Cheapest convert. 0-60 4.8 unmodded. And it looks so damn mean! Plus it has room unlike an S2000. And the Anniversary edition is sweet!

Default The S2000, If you want to call it a trunk is useless!!!

The "TT" Roadster is more practical than the S. The S has less problems than the "TT" & I think in the long run [if your buying] the S has a better engine, trans. less cost of repair but the style still goes to the "TT". and if you buy the S then no "TT" East or West "for you". Now go order that "TT" you want!! ALMS

Default Try shifting as fast or accurate as that "slushbucket".

If you want a trans, the 6 speed w/Hurst short throw in the T/A is VERY nice.

Default Re: A new TT? Or something else...

I have a my2000 S2000 and a my2001 225TT QR.For highway driving or cruising around town, the TT wins without question, and the interior of the TT is great. It also handles pretty well. But when it comes to wanting to go fast, the S2000 is my choice. The weight difference between the two make the S much more nimble, and nothing has a stiffer frame...nothing. Also, the "no torque" arguement just doesn't work. The car is fast and in the power band, it is faster than a Boxster, and about even with a Boxster S. You will get used to holding the car at 9000 rpm against the rev limiter. So, I guess it is a matter of what you want. Both are great.

Default The SLK32 trans needs to shift a whole lot faster than the 5-speed autobox in my...

... W210 E50 to avoid being labeled a "slushbucket." But the automatic in the SLK32 I drove last summer wasn't any better than my old car.

As for the Trans Am Anniversary edition, the Pep Boys swoosh decals stuck on the sides and the black-painted rims look like dog poo.

It is a lot of poke for the buck though. Can't argue with that.

Default And it OBVIOUSLY does (or you don't know how to drive the car) ....

Sorry for the flame, but I can see no other reason for someone coming to the conclusion that the AMG Speedshift is a 'slushbucket'. Either you didn't know how to drive the car, or you were so heavily predisposed toward your own biased opinion that you couldn't see the obvious.

Default ... or maybe, just maybe, is isn't quite as fast as YOU are predisposed to believe...

... or you may have adjusted your expectations to be more in line with the character of an automatic.

BTW, why is it OBVIOUS that the SLK trans shifts faster than an AMG tweak trans in a W210?

No flame taken, none intended here.
