noobish question...how do you all get the oil filter out?

yeah, that it what i tried first, then I got the cap wrench style...
I think that the dealer used the "glue" that holds atoms together to attach my oil filter. I punched a hole and still no go.
I called a time out for today. I will get sandpaper tonight and hopefully it will come off tommorow.
