Normal vs severe maintenance schedule

Every dealer service department for any brand I have ever bought always insisted that irrespective of my driving patterns, the local conditions required me to use the more frequent "severe" maintenance schedule instead of "normal". I have heard this in rural Pennsylvania, DC, Atlanta and here. I won't argue with the posters on this board about doing maintenance more frequently if you wish, I just hate being told I "have" to do something. Las Vegas dealers are the worst, saying that the high summer heat means that "severe" applies year round. Audi is no exception. The local dealer was giving TT owners an oil change every 5K miles because of severe conditions but stopped as soon as AoA said they would not pay. Someone is not putting their money where their mouth is.

45K miles in a little over 18 months...Mobil One is cheap insurance to longevity, I dont mind paying for this piece of mind, even when the scheduled services are over....In probably about 6 weeks =(
I guess when the service plan is finished the car might self destruct....b
