Okay, I've gotten to a point in my life where I can have a car to "toy" with and have just finished fixing up a garage to keep it in (without the kids bikes, lawn mowers, etc). The problem is I've never "toyed" with a car before. So I'm coming here, to what seems like is the alter, seeking elementry guidence....take it easy on me.
I just bought a jack and jack stands and I was wondering where on my 2001 225 TT is a safe spot to place the jack stands.
Let the laughter begin, I've got big shoulders, but any other suggestions would be appreciated (like what tools to buy).
Thanks

for a floor jack. If you notice under the car at each corner, there is a round rubber pad. Don't use that with the floor jack-- the floor pan will bend a little each time. Those are pads for a lift-- all 4 corners supported equally seems to be OK, but jacking one corner is too much stress.
You need to use the frame rail for the jack-- same place as the factory scissors-jack goes. Get a rubber slotted jack pad from JC Whitney or you'll bend the metal there too though.
As for the stands, it depends on what I'm doing, but I usually put them on the subframes, at a reinforced point such as where it mounts to the body or where the control arms attach.
HTH!

I was concerned about the angle...I was surfing here and saw on someones personal web site (a great site with tons of pictures and work in progress...I just wish I could redit who ever it was) a picture of modified ramps where it looked like they decressed the angle of the ramp.

Thanks...I was tempted to put the floor jack there yesterday, but thought I should check here first.

Schwing's website - the ramp extensions that is. I recently bought Rhino ramps, and with stock ride height at least, there is no problem with initial clearance.

Lot's of ramps offer low angle approach extensions now. Try Autozone or Walmart. I've had these for 25 years....Even with a lift in the garage, I still use them occasionally!
