Default Do you remeber seeing a car called the Banana Slammer (934) >>>

about 10-12 years ago? It was built by a guy named Clay Dopke here in Dayton and used a John Paul racing engine. Clay had a shop here that built custom Porsches for the big money guys back in the day. He had it at my house one evening and it nearly cause a panic in the neighborhood with a street legal race car parked in front of the house. I know he was clocked at 202 mph on I-75 at about 2am one time.

If I had only had the presence of mind to grab the camera.

Default I think this may be the car >>>

They refer to the builder as Dave Dopke, not Clay, but that is an error I think as all of the other information matches including the name of the company. It also matches the two stories Clay told me about building a car for Jose Conseco and that this car was built from a 930 shell.

http://www.johnstarkeycars.com/pages/for_sale/935K3_Y.html</a

Default I could never get my head around Porsche.....

apart from straight line performance, and German reliability, they were basically too much work. My 512BBi was much more rewarding and less work and even my 3.4T Mondial had more soul and was equally practical. I never got it....

Don't get me started on 944's....

Default Ferrari Fans

Lets see, a 944 Turbo was 1/2 the price of a Mondial, and more performance. With $2000 worth of chips, exhaust, and tires, it matches the BB512 performance for about 1/3 the price and is more reliable than either as and much more comfortable and practical as a daily drive (visibiltiy, A/C, etc...). If you can't tell, I have two 944T's, one track car, one as a daily driver. And yes, I have driven the 512BB as well as the Testarossa, I couldn't see myself driving a Mondial. A lot of Italian Rhetoric. I do own a Lancia Stratos if you are familiar, this is a real bar room brawler that would take all. Do a Google search if you are not familiar, a Ferrari Dino engine. MGH
