Hey! That was uncalled for. What did AMC ever do to you?

Default yea, I guess I'm a bit overboard with that remark :/

Nothing against them really as they were fairly reliable cars. It's more of a below the belt remark to a 924 owner if say a Grelim pulls up and pops up the hood to show they have the same engines.
Although, it's actually because AMC bought this engine from VAG with AMC specs, so it had lower compression, lower performance than that found on a 924. I know, uncalled for. My bad. But I never enjoyed working on 924's back in the 80's then because everything was so hard to access. Having said that, I think they are on par if not better than working on today's vehicles.

Default Chapman was obsessed with weight....

and we all know where that led. I met him once and he was a engineering genius, no doubt. Around the time I had my Mondial, my concession to practical exotics, a couple of buddies had Lotus Esprit Turbo's - outstandingly quick and fun to drive but fragile and had a lousy build quality.

I did have a Chrysler Sunbeam Lotus in black and silver for a while - now that was fun and practical.

I love the driving position in Ferrari's but the electric windows, wipers, ancillary equipment layout and A/C always left a lot to be desired.

Default That's interesting info, I'll have to read up on that. I thought AMC engineered all their engines

except for the weirdo acquisitions towards the end.

The 327, 360(308(?), 401), and 4.0 were all pretty solid stuff if not exactly technically advanced.

You have to forgive my outburst, I'm an AMC collector
