Default Now that VW has announced a 180hp NewBeetle . . .

Has Audi indicated any HP upgrades beyond the current 225hp TT? I'm not talking about the forever rumored 300HP TT-S, but has Audi said anything? 240hp, 250hp, anything? It seems like a 180hp NewBeetle with a 6-speed transmission and a garrett chip bringing it to about 210hp would be the sleeper of the year. We need a TT with more!

Default What crack pipe are you smoking from?

I own a Turbo Beetle in addition to my 180fwd TT. The Turbonium is advertised as 150hp - never 170hp, and it definitely only has 150hp. It runs with a boost of .48 bar compared to a stock 180hp TT .70 bar.
I am assuming they are just going to put a 180HP TT chip in the car to give it the 180HP. The Beetle has always been as quick as a 180TT because of the quicker gear ratio, not because it actually has the same HP.

Default no, not smoking anything! lol

Jake had a Turbo Beetle and a 180Fwd TT on a dyno at Audi TT Training school. Both cars showed the SAME hp/torque ratings! That is where I am getting my info from.

BTW, I don't smoke

Default How about the race version of the Beetle that will be hitting dealers in a couple of months?

This will spank the TT and cost ~$36K I have this info from a VW dealer here in Houston. He seemed to know a lot about VAG...Not my info before anyone flames

Default I think it will defintely happen...

I had a New Beetle, and while I loved the car you also have to remember it is NOT a TT. There are a lot of cars that have similar "power" potential for less money but do not have all the other stuff like handling, fit/finish etc...

That being said, I think Audi has something up their sleeve for the TT anyway.

Default Race version of NB has 204hp VR6 I believe. Might spank stock 180TT, but not 225TT

That would be a close call given the weight differences with quattro on the TT.
