I have Michelin Pilot Alpins, 205/55-16 on TSW Revo Wheels, which look great and don't cost an arm and a leg. ($159) A previous post quoted a European test rating the Pilot Alpins best on ice and snow, tied for second on dry, by far the best overall. No snow to speak of in NH yet, but they've been excellent on ice, and decent on the dry. I'm happy so far.

Blizzaks Mk-01, studless are outstanding performers in the heavy stuff and ice. However, as with all specality tires compromises are inevitable. The Mk-01's tire blocks are "siped" (each tire block is sliced like bread), consequently dry pavement performance is simply sloppy.
The mountain weather where I live can be pretty intense...so the Mk-01 makes loads of sense for me. Otherwise, I'd be running a different tire in a more mild weather zone.

Just purchased a set (4) Michelin Pilot Alpin 235 45 H17 for my 180TTQ from National Tire & Battery (NTB)in Chicago area for $149.99 each. Wanted to use the factory wheels, which created the need to switch tires twice per year. NTB includes free mounting and balancing for the life of the tires. Overall cost is much less than buying new wheels. Though the snow has been light, the light snow, ice and dry pavement performance has been good. Waiting, but not looking forward, to test their performance in a deep snow. Another plus, the wheels look great. Hope this helps.
