Default O2 sensor questions---------->

Search taught me most of what I wanted to know.(MCPI- your how to is great!) Just reinforce for me if you will. I'm seeing decreased fuel mileage. Down to about 25 26 at steady 70 mph, 19 or so in town. No CELs No codes. My car is at 85000 miles now. Running strong with no noticeable problems except the reduced mileage. Think I should change them both? Just the pre cat? What about the universals vs. OEM Bosch? I know I could do the splicer gizmo but really don't want it there so probably would get OEM from Impex or Pure MS. Pointers appreciated.

Default Kind of piggybacking off this same question..>>

I just pulled a 17521 VAG code "Bank1 - Sensor1 Internal Resistance too High." I am not sure if this means that the O2 is bad or what? Should I replace both as it does not state whether it is the front or back one.

Default I used the Bosch Universal one..worked fine.>>>

It came with the plug dealie..but I ended up cutting off the old O2 sensor harness/plug and soldering the wires together.

The Bosch ones that come with the correct plug is significantly more money than the universal ones..soldering is fairly easy..i say save yourself some $$.

Default An update---- Just thought I didn't have codes :-)

Always check before you speak.
I have-----
17521 Bank 1 sensor 1 internal resistance too high.
17544 Long term fuel trim add. fuel, bank 1 System too lean
17743 Engine torque monitoring 2 limit exceeded???????
17963 Charge pressure upper limit exceeded. (yeah remember that, boost machine set for APR93 but car was in stock program. )
16795 secondary air injection system incorrect flow (new screws have replace the bad rivets. should be ok now)
18010 Power supply low terminal 30 ( battery was out during clutch replacement)
16487 Mass or volume air flow circuit high input

Never assume no codes just because no CEL huh?
Am I right to do O2s first , then maybe MAF?
Thanks in advance.

I think S1 is front, S2 is rear. We only have one "bank", where a V6 or 8 has 2 banks.

Default if the car feels off....>>>

i would pull the MAF connector first and drive a bit...if the MAF is bad, the car will feel "better"....

Otherwise 02 sensors...at 85k...you are close...the post cat sensor you could go generic...personally, an OEM "eqivalent" would be preferred for the S1 position....that is where most of the readings are coming from...

Thanks, Not "off" at all. I think I'll just do the pre cat 02 first and see what happens.

Default There is a VW one that fits the 225 pre-cat with just a minor mod

Shave a tab off the connector. Bosch 16109, I bought one at Amazon for about $65.

Default are you 100% sure this works with our car? do you happen to have the actual pic of the O2

as the one it shown here looks different. I know there are some O2 on Amazon that people bought and it works but i don't think it was this model.
