Odd Temp Issue
Noticed while driving my Temp gauge is always pefectly center. Then I stopped for a bagel, ate it while the car was running, looked down at my temp gauge and it the needle was about 3/4 across. Then, drove to my destination, as soon as I started to drive, temp went back and rested in its normal spot...
What the heck??

To amplify what Jeff said...
if you're not familiar with the system.
Our cars don't have an engine driven fan for the radiator, and depend on air moving across the radiator for heat exchange. When you stop, no air, so less heat transfer. The coolant temp will rise until a thermoswitch in the radiator cuts the electric fan(s) on, moving air through the radiator. You'll see the temp gauge move up until the fans kick on, then go down as the temp drops. It'll repeat this cycle until you start moving again and get airflow.

A little trick - When I'm doing AutoX's and finish my lap and wait in line, the temp starts to......
climb. I simply turn on the A/C and the temp quickly comes back down to normal.
I just pull the fan switch out before starting the next run.
