OEM battery dead. DIY Walmart $50 battery replacement procedure.
My car wasnt starting last week eventhough headlights and interior lights worked.
Tested the battery and registered 12V (which Schwing says 12V is dead battery). Went the cheap route
and went to Costco and Walmart for battery. Found out the Walmart was the better fit and
was cheaper at $50. The walmart battery was almost a drop-in. The only modification I had to do was cut a notch from the plastic battery cover so that the + cable can be connected to the battery (since the walmart battery is a little shorter than OEM). I am posting this for future reference on this board that someone may find useful.
OEM Battery is dead. Looks like the manf. date was 2003.

Dropped in the walmart battery. The label shows the model type.

I did not re-use this blue strip where the bracket holds it down. I found out that
the bracket held the battery better without this.

Here is the original hold down bracket. The battery is very secure.

The only modification I made was to cut a notch so that the + cable will fit.

I got that same battery
Got mine at Sam's earlier this year right after I got the car. I wished I had known that the mfg warranty covered it because I still had some left.
I don't remember needing to cut a notch in the cover. Do you have a picture of that?
It does seem like a great battery with a great warranty (its even pro-rated)
