Default OEM Thermostat in - replaced Wahler out of ECS kit -

car is now running MUCH cooler...... normal operating temps prior to swap were 98-103C..... now I'm seeing 95-98C - so a 3-5C degree change. But the bigger diff is in stop and go traffic or idling at a light with the AC on. Those temps would be in the 103-108C range with spikes as high as 113 and even 121.... base on ambient temps and duration of traffic/light.... yes, I saw 121 twice, scary! Now, idling in the driveway for 15 minutes with the AC on full blast - temps held steady at 104C.... If you replaced the timign belt with the ECS kit and used the Wahler thermostat that came with it, do yourself a favor and replace it with the OEM t-stat. As RafaTT has an excellent write-up on, it is definitely more efficient and beneficial to do so if you've noticed you're running hotter than normal! Thanks RafaTT!!

On another note, my on again off again CEL is attibuted to my secondary air injection system - seems the pump for the other airbox hose is potentially seized or on the fritz - may have gotten some water in there or something but I'm told it's not a worrisome item at all and doesn't need replacing.

The VW MAF I thought wasn't working in my car seems to be pulling like a bull - seems the butt dyno lacks the proper calibration from time to time and the stocker is on it's last legs. Think the calibration is all squared away and car is running very well....

Now that my new coil packs and sparks just arived with another spare 225 MAF I'm told the lil' puppy will be running even better.... at this point, I can't believe that's even possible, but I'll sure take it!!

Default On a related side note - this AM when taking the TT to KMD, I saw the most amount

of modded Audis this side of a major event on the highways..... had a denim blue pull up behind me on rt 202. Saw another silver on 78... saw a gaggle of older and newer bodystyle A4s with exhausts and body kits on 80 and the GSP and of course a cool collection of S4s, etc at KMD - including some non-Audi older Corvettes and a very cool OLD school Aston Martin in their lot. Cool Audi day - especially when your car is running right, 109k and all!

That's great, glad it helped. BTW, it is not only response time, also more opening of valve.

Default thanks again - saved me $$$$ since I didn't have to replace the water pump too as a potential

culprit as was the original plan prior to your lab time!!

Default it takes a little over an hour but after my recent dealer escapade with the wife's Touareg

going to Danny is a treat. Plus, a friend of mine lives in Westwood so I can crash at his place with all the creature comforts and an ex owns a restaurant in Ridgewood that I pop in at every now and then to say hi.... So, it is a little bit of a haul from way out here but as I do that kind of drive every day in to work, I guess I'm used to it.... and, at the end of a day at Danny's I KNOW my car is going to feel great (at least until I break it again!)
