Went on a 100mile bike ride last week. Pics of me and my bike at the first stop at 30miles. This is after a five mile climb with a constant 7% gradient. Some parts were so steep that my front wheel kept lifting off the ground.

rest stop at the top. All the food you could eat to make it to the next stop. Ten miles ahead after refueling, a beatiful 5-7 mile descent with speeds approaching 50mph. Scary!

a few of the cars that brought in nearly 2000 cyclists.

my car and bike at the finish and a hot 85 degrees. I came home and slept for 4 hours immediately.

Seriously though, I raced a lot when younger, and I have always kept my legs and going on the experience of the racing days, I have developed on the bike over the years, even if I am out of shape in my mind, I can still kick *** on a bike those half my age. We all have our strong points and I know that in another sport, someone else can whip me. But let me tell you, many people passed me on this ride. That won't happen in another couple months when I have shed 30 pounds and ready for the "Torture Ten Thousand" ride. That ride is 100 miles and has a total elevation gain of 10,000 feet! That ride is a real bitch. Last weeks ride had a total elevation gain of 3,000 feet in 100 miles.

46 is just a state of mind. In my head I am 26. My mind will never quit. Famous surfer Laird Hamilton said that once you think you are over the hill, then you are toast. The human body can take a lot of pain, and even at 46, it yearns to keep on going full steam ahead. I will not surrender to aging...ever!!

No, not really, but I would like to have long hair. I have a pretty conservative hair style, but in the past, I have had my hair pretty damn long(below shoulders). That was during my experimentation days(70's and 80's if you know what I mean).
