Oil level always high
My car has been serviced by one dealer (Carlsen in Palo Alto) and two independent shops over the last five years.
Whenever I checked the oil level, especially right after an oil change, it was always higher than the maximum mark on the dip-stick.
Can all three shops be clueless? Do they intentionally put more oil for the engine to burn some? (My engine doesn't seem to burn any oil by the way.) Is my dip-stick faulty? Am I clueless?
Thank you,
Ali

Oil capacity w/ filter is 4.8. They are most likely putting in the entire 5 qts....
If you want it done right do it yourself IMO.I had one shop put in a quart too much.I drained it myself. When I called to complain they said it couldn't hurt anything. From what I've read overfilling can cause the oil to foam or whip up & lose it's effectiveness.
