I doubt it. I have a tendency to break things!

Default no, wasn't aware >

It does sound like they're just old and the cone has failed, imo.

Default what i had done

local shop put in a boston acoustics amp and speakers and i kept the headunit. used a gt-40 amp and pro series in front sl series in back in my 06 coupe. i did not have the bose upgrade on my soundsystem. sighting the amp was a little difficult but it ended up in a space within the wall of the hatch. the main problem they had with the speakers is that the oem grill openings are very small for the speaker size and i was bottoming out my speakers against the door panels with crazy vibration. a little more dynamat fixed that. i would consider having new speakers grills put in if sound quality is paramount over stock appearance.

Default It's ok...

The space is the limiting factor IMO. The punch is infinitely better than the OE.

Default The rear 4" RF coaxial speakers were "plug and play"...

Just had to remove the OE speakers from the brackets and drill two new holes in the bracket for the new speakers.

The front Boston Acoustics took a little customizing since they are component and the crossover had to be installed. There is a write-up on my website.

The new rear Boston Acoustics are 5 1/4" components and were definitely not "drop-ins". I'll be updating the speaker/amp write-up eventually.

Default thanks >

I'll check that out; I wouldn't mind the stock HU, but then again I have the tape player which is pretty much worthless.
