...but, this is something that I will do every year. For any of you who think you are true gearheads, this is the event for you.

So far, there are already a few forum members poised to make the assault on the salt. LarryTT, Cliff, Absolute Todd, Evan, Gina and others are making the pilgimage. Who knows, we may even get the elusive Mance to make it.

It's on the Bonneville Salt Flats, very close to Wendover, NV. Myself and three friends of mine ran our cars there last year and I have to say that it was one of the greatest race events that I have ever participated in. John Stahmann from Audiworld brought his modded A4 out there and wrote this article about the experience.

This year, the event is going to run from September 21st through the 24th. It is also the only dry lake/salt flat timed event that you can bring true street cars to.

For more information about the rules or any other information you need, this is the official website: World of Speed

Also for places to stay, I would need to know by July to reserve a room at The Rainbow Hotel and Casino for everyone. My good friend, Mike Steed, who runs a 65 GT350 on the salt is sponsored by them and he can get killer deals on lodging.

Here is a bad pic of my car heading over the 100mph mark on the way to an attempted 130.

I couldn't quite make it.....only hit 123.something. If you think it's easy, think again. Give it a whirl, you'll never forget it.

Added information:
Please start sending me emails and I'll set up the bomb......I mean list.

Wish I could go, but I already have a planned vacation for the first week of Sept to tour Bryce/Zion on mountain bike!

BTW, we need to talk! I will be in SLC early afternoon this coming Fri May 11th, maybe we can hook-up for the afternoon? I will email you on this.

Default Jason, tell us some more about your experiences there...

how many runs would we get to make? I assume this event is fun even if you can't hit the speed mark.

Total newbie to this... would love to hear more. But I'm game. Probably a 10-hour drive from here.

Default I do indeed...that's why I'm shocked you won't just toss me those keys over there :-O

I bet you'd let Nicholas drive one after getting him fired and all.
