Im thinking about selling my B5 S4 for a TT...Im thinking a 2001/2002 225 coupe...maybe a roadster if I can find one which is at a price I can afford with options I want. Are they reliable? How are they during the winter? I like the fact that you can take your roadster up a mountain during a snow storm then 6 mos later when its hot and sunny out you can put the top down. Each car has its pros and cons Im sure...but what should I look out for in these cars? Questions to ask? Certain build dates/models I should look out for? TIA everyone

Look for a 2002. They seem to have a few less issues. If you can get a certified pre-owned through audi, do it. These cars have a few issues, like most cars, but not a ton. Window glitches, instr. cluster glitches (not mine, but somewhat common, esp. in 2000-2001), Mass Air Flow sensor problems (can get a rebuilt one for $60-80). My car also seems to be getting even better (thanks to mods) as I approach 70K. Despite a few glitches, these are solid cars.
The thing is, you're going to want to spend some money on mods coming from an S4. You're going to want a chip, exhaust, and airbox. Follow Steve Schwing's stuff from the link in his sig. A good first mod besides a chip is a sport suspension, with springs/struts or coilovers. I can pretty easily keep up with many S4's on a track, but they simply have more raw power. The TT has more style and uniqueness, with plenty of sport thrown in. A few key mods blur those distinctions somewhat. You might also look for a used 3.2, as they've been around for a while now.
I live in northern Michigan, and drive my TT in a lot of snow all winter. It's not quite the same as driving an A4/S4 in the snow (owned, done both with snows here), as these cars are a bit heavier. However, the TT is quite a porker for its size, and does quite well in the snow. I work at a hospital and often get called in during blizzards in the middle of the night when things aren't well (if at all) plowed. The TT does the job well. Like the S4, you will just need some good snows.
Hope that helps, feel free to e-mail.

each one more than the previous. I've had minimal problems(knock on wood) other than self induced through mods. : )
