i got my 8012 springs to replace my original 1011 rear springs. i finally got around to doing the install, which BTW, didn't take long...and here's the results.
here are the two springs side-by-side (original 1011 on left, and new 8012 on the right):

and here are the two springs side-by-side with the reverse perch on the original 1011 on the left and the new 8012 rear spring with perch in the correct orientation:

this has a level on top to show you that the 8012 with the correct orientation of the perches to be exactly the same height as the original 1011 with reversed perches...but bear in mind that the 8012 springs has not yet settled in (i haven't had time to drive 100-150 miles to let the springs settle, installed this morning).
for those that asked why i want to go lower, the reason why was to correct the perch orientation so that corner balancing can be done on the car.

but it also looks like the new spring is a smaller diameter which, if made from the same material, would correspond to a lower springrate. This will change the handling dynamics of the car. Not sure its a good trade off to be able to go lower.

rates are the same. When I got my front struts fixed - they swapped in newer springs which had less coils and different diameter but exactly the same rate.
