Our last cost evaluation put us around $90,000 for licenses. While personally $90K is nothing if it gets the job done, but our IT manager does not see it like that. Honestly I think he looks around at people with their salaries printed on their forehead- "look at Mr. $75,000 and Ms. $45,000, hmmmm for $120,000 a year do we need them, I don't think so."
So cost is almost more important then functionality. If we went my way we could probably be up and running within a year, with SMS we are looking at 5 years, not because of the difficulty, but the cost alone.
