OT, but did you hear about the Concorde crash? Just out of Paris, a charter flight full of Germans.

The Camp David summit was about making peace through mutually painful compromises, and not only about ending Israel's occupation of the Occupied Territories.
Also, Concorde is a name, and therefore should not be preceded by 'the' (e.g., I flew Concorde, have you heard that Concorde crashed? etc.)
Being French Israeli, and a pilot, it is a rather sad day.

in your example that you changed the noun "crash" to a verb by making it "crashed". Besides, Concorde (the company) didn't crash, one of its aircraft did.
To use your own example, in your opening sentence, you wrote "The Camp David summit was..." Using your example, one should write "Camp David summit was..."
Here, again, "the" is describing summit, not Camp David.
Not to diminish the true sentiment of your message, however, 'tis a rather sad day.<p>TP

does not preclude it from having the word "the" preceding it. Furthermore, since there is no other plane of it's type in service anywhere, it is "the" Concorde. You can fly "a" concorde, but you cannot say "Did you hear Concorde crashed?" That implies that the entire fleet crashed, or an entire company named Concorde crashed.
Concorde originally referred to the "agreement" (concorde, I don't need to tell you that if you are French) between the British and French to develop the plane. It came to mean the plane however, and the English language is versatile in that way. It's like Kleenex. Kleenex is actually a brand, but the name has come to mean tissue paper, and no one would be so ****-retentive as to admonish or correct someone who said "Can you get me the box of Kleenex", or "Hand me a Kleenex".
As for the Middle East, I don't wish to foment controversy either, but the Palestinians have been on the short end of the stick far longer than the Israelis. While I agree with you that to achieve peace will require "mutually painful compromises", yours is of cousre an Israeli viewpoint, and I'm glad you acknowledged that somewhat. Peace there will never happen pof course, because the hatreds run too deep, and as long as religion hovers in both backgrounds, there will never be peace because religion promotes fanaticism.
It's too bad, because I have been to Israel, Palestine, Lebanon, etc., many times, and it is a beautiful part of the world populated by strong people.

You would have received a leather folder with information about the plane, explaining ,among other things, why the 'the' should be omitted.
As for the Mideast, I acknowledge the suffering of the Palestinians (regardless of the cause), I by no means hate the Palestinians, and think a Palestinian state will be established soon in the West Bank, Gaza Strip and parts of East Jerusalem. Nevertheless it will be a compromise for both parties
