Default OT Ebay [Resolved]

$25 out of pocket for fees but a lot better than $280 for a upgraded unit. Next time (if there is one) I will ask the proper questions.

OK, off to V1.com!

Default Did his listing specifically say it was a brand new/current model? If not, you may be SOL. That's...

why they tell you ask questions BEFORE you bid. If I'm buying something that I only want if it's brand new/sealed/unused, I always check first. Unless he lied in the listing or in other communications to you, you may be stuck with it. Maybe that's why such a good price?

Default SOL (more)

Well no it wasn't listed as brand new. Guess I can add this to the current f**k ups in my life right now. I logged on, placed a bid and bought what I thought was a nearly new unit.

There is no way I figured a $350 unit to be 6yrs old! and I doubt anyone else in the bidding did either.

Guess it's time to go and get drunk, can't exactly screw that one up!

Default Re: OT F*****g eBay - now what do I do? (Updated)

If he didn't misrepresent it, you are out of luck. I've had similar problems, and usually it's at least as much my fault for not asking the right questions.

If you can't get a refund, sell it yourself. You'll probably get damn near what you paid for it.

Default Brad makes a good point about selling it yourself if you don't want to keep it. First, though, ...

I would wait and see what the seller says. If he/she cares about his/her reputation (i.e., feedback rating) on Ebay he/she might allow you to send it back for a refund. Offer to pay all of the shipping costs, the Ebay listing fee and the re-listing fee (assuming they'll try to sell it again). Although sellers on Ebay who don't clearly describe the shortcomings of an item may not technically be doing anything wrong, it's not considered ethical to do what you're describing happened (i.e., leaving out blatent shortcomings of an item, or not telling you that the item is not the current model). If you don't care about your own feedback rating (doesn't sound like you'll be participating in a lot more auctions), tell the seller that you'll be forced to leave negative feedback if a refund is not provided given that they omitted a major shortcoming of the unit and did not make it clear that it was not the current model. (Can't believe they tried to pass off such an old model as brand new.)
