OT: Knee surgery Thursday...anyone have this done?

I had my right knee operated on twice . . .
not a big deal as far as recovery. Having a meniscus tear is not that tough to recover from. I went through much worse Second operation was a rebuild, lots of work.
You will be back up and around in no time. Just do what I did and bust your *** in therapy. I met so many people that cried if something hurt! Screw the pain, work through it. Of course it will hurt, so what! Your knee is much more important than giving in to some minor discomfort!
Good luck and let us know how things go.

I had a completely torn ACL and destroyed my meniscus as well. I had arthriscopic surgery two years ago and they used my patella tendon as my new ligament. I have a pretty long scar going down my knee besides the three scope holes. There's two titanium screws in there now but it's strong as hell. I stayed overnight in the hospital and recovery took awhile before I even got close to doing something rigorous. Just relax and prepare to be layed up for atleast 6 weeks while the swelling goes down and your muscles get stronger. Good luck.

I had surgery.....(should be two ^^^)...
recently and watched it on the 25" monitor.
Fun with doctors. lol
Steve, you'll do fine. Surgery is painless nowadays. Just push yourself through recovery and rehab.
Good luck.

Had it done 8 years age. Piece of cake. Had a bootstrap tear
of the meniscus. The Doc was done in 45 minutes. I went out to dinner with no crutches that night, just a couple of Ace bandages that they had wrapped tightly around the leg.
If you can, get moving the leg as soon as possible. Best bet can be an exercise bike because of no impact. I'm no Doctor, I just play one on the Internet.
Mine was due to a student assault 10 years ago when I thought I help society. Thankfully that idea passed.

About 10 years ago I fell about 20 feet rock climbing, and tore up both knees. Over the next 2 years (one a year) I had the miniscus cartilege removed via arthroscopy. Outpatient surgery at 8am, was home by 6pm with various drugs and a neat knee cuff thingy attached to a cooler of ice water. Was at work a couple days later at my desk, and walking around. Could walk without pain in about 2 weeks. Still dont want to ski, but I do everything else I used to do (bike, hiking, rock climb)...
