Well, I thought I was done with this saga. I got a piece of software called UpdateExpert from St. Bernard software which is just perfect. However, it doesn't work on Win 2k Japanese servers. So, I am still searching for a piece of software that will mass-deploy security patches (and install) to all my servers (all Win2k Japanese boxes). Someone suggested Microsoft SMS but I am leary about that.

Yeah.. MS Security Patches.
Does it roll those out to servers without any interaction besides me telling it to roll the patch out?
I need it for Japanese Win2k.. guess I need to call MS to see if it will work with that.
Can you tell me how you like it? What you use it for?

I have basically based my career on SMS for 4 years.
We use it for automated software deployment, hardware inventory, software reporting.
HOWEVER I am still in discovery mode to find the best way to roll out the MS Security patches. The new MS Security Toolkit has a bunch of SMS queries and add-ins to help this along but on paper it doesn't look comprehensive. I am intrigued by the UpdateExpert software you are using and will download a demo on Monday.
We have been running HFNETCHK.exe for weeks to see where we are at and have been rolling out various service packs (NT4, WIn2K, IE, IIS Option Pack) via SMS. However HFNETCHK tells us we need 80 hotfixes or something like that.![Frown](https://www.audiworld.com/forums/images/smilies/frown.gif)
We definitely need to hook up via voice or e-mail.

Otherwise, I think St. Bernard software is responsible for fixing your damn Japanese Windows problem. How could they not support it? They are the second largest computer market in the world.

The only thing I like about the products I have already seen is that they are specific for the patches and will automatically tell you which ones you need and download them.
