On the Forester? I have no idea, I have yet to even test drive one.
And I'm not 100% positive that I will be getting any new vehicle any time soon as it will be based upon me selling the Rodeo. Someone at work recently expressed an interest in it and if they buy it, then I will need another vehicle and hence this thread.
Just doing some research and I will check about the rear wiper motor when/if I test drive one. Thanks for the heads up.

Thanks. Not fond of the RAV 4 and I might still look at the Mazda Tribute (Escape equiv)...
However... the Mazda does not have AWD though the RAV 4 does. So it's a draw and the Forester wins again.

not at all. I just found it to be lots of fun.
Very happy that we rented it. we were able to drive it "illegally" around both volcanos. The rental companies don't want you taking their cars on the roads that we went on. We decided that it was a vacation and if the Subaru got trashed screw it! lol
I handled very nicely at 90+, which is not easy to acomplish on Maui! It worked very well in 4 wheel drifts on very tight and twisty dirt roads running along the cliffs. It really worked well. I was surprised at how well it actually drove. Obviously it was not very well appointed, but it was nice nonetheless.
The A/C and wipers worked great for the 10 days we had it. The gas mileage was awesome as well! I think it has an 11 or 12 gallon tank. We went well over 350 miles and we beat the crap out of it! We were not doing any sort of fuel economy runs believe me. We put over 1100 miles on it and I think filled it up twice. The rental company paid for the first and last fills. It was actually cheaper for them to fill it instead of us! lol

Just kidding of course. And thanks for the in-depth review, I think I need to test one now.
It really sounds like the type of well-rounded vehicle that I am looking for.
Thanks again!
