Default If your budget permits it, stay at The Palace. Definitely eat at Gotham. At least, do the prix fixe

lunch. Alfred Portale should be a national treasure - IMO. Get the Gotham Chocolate Cake for dessert... it's an oral orgasm... :-)

As for the rest of it - it all depends on your tastes, but there are no finer museums or theaters, than those in NYC.

Have fun!

Default Hi Rahul, have you just had a "chamber of commerce" pill?...

"...no finer museums or theaters, than those in NYC." I quess you mean in the States, right? (IMHO London, Paris, Florence and St. Petersburg all have sensational museums) Tell me you started going off on the food jag and just riffed right into the museum/theatre stuff, please. :-)

Default Nope I really feel that way, having spent substantial (read: not tourist) time in many of the art

capitals of the world, Western (per all of your examples) and otherwise, I feel safe in saying that NYC has one of, if not the best collective arts scenes going and also several of the most important permanent collections and holdings. I'm sure you've studied your share of art history - just think of how often works cited either belong to collections or private holdings in NYC. And, if there is an artwork or a show somewhere that is something REALLY spectacular, it'll eventually make its way to NYC...

I suppose, to some degree, the matter of how important NYC is to the "art scene" is subjective, but you would be hard pressed to convince that any other city is more so... :-)

Definitely the OLD Palace is prefered, though the new is very nice, too.

Default YEs, even though I do NOT forgive your questionable behavior in the past, I concede to allowing

you some measure of good taste, in that you agreed with me.

Did I mention in my application for the (corrupt) phoTTo conTTesTT judge selections that I possess great humility? :-p
