I've always wanted ninjas, all I ever managed to assemble was a rag-tag group of huns. Oh sure, they're a right likeable group when you get to know them, but they're no NINJAS! Dang....

but they wouldn't be in the middle of this cluster-fu%k, if the US had taken a definitive stand. Yes, the pilots should be able to defend themselves, in fact take an aggressive posture when needed. However, as a military veteran and life-long historical buff, this situation in Iraq is ludricous. We had better relations with Japan and Germany quicker than the environment of hostility with Iraq. We should have either made them surrender, unconditionally or left well enough alone. Half-measures leave a sour taste in everyone's mouth. Just my two cents.

last week alone the cadre went through five boxes of katana-polish, eight crates of shruiken, and five dozen battle-dummies!
i tell you, if the upkeep gets any higher i may have to replace them with some samurai. at least /they/ know the meaning of loyalty.
i've also been considering some shaolin monks.

reconciliation as Europe did following WWI or WWII. Their's is not a culture that embraces current western values. If Saddam was executed during the gulf war does not neccesarliy mean our relations would have improved dramatically. In fact that may have escalated the situation over there further and created a expanded need for us military.

And I understand the perspective.
Having just returned from a year in Saudi (long story) I can't get into the policy aspects, but I do understand where you're coming from. Just wanted to be sure what the "sham" was in reference to. I share that pride in our pilots, airmen, soldiers, sailors, Marines and our Brit coalition partners (but not the French!) who are there and serving proudly. Cheers!
