Somehow I think someone here might know the answer to this one...
My wonderful wife got me some cooking lessons for my birthday. The instructions say to bring an apron (does a MechanixWear apron count?) and a chef's knife.
While I'm sure I own a chef's knife, I don't know exactly what one is. Do they come in different lengths?
Thanks in advance for what I'm sure will be many helpful (and a few smartass) replies.

some chefs might use a 10" Sabatier, others Ginsu or a well sharpened "shank". As long as the presentation is good and the blade sharp.

With that type of requirement, I guess you could also go the other way and steal a real chef's knife from a local restaurant too. :-)
