Default I hear plasmas burn out within 5-7 years. If i drop $2000+ I want my TV to last.

LCD's are good for much longer.

This is what i hear anyway. Maybe you plan on replacing your TV ever 5 years anyway...

Oh wait, i get a GE discount, i wouldn't spend $2000+ anyway!

Default 50" SONY plasma and 32" philips LCD..

I think if you live in dorm, 32" would be enough. too big hurt my eyes last time. Philips with ambilight might be a good choice.

I might selling my philips and replace it with the Philips Miravision (both in my picposter)

Default I just got the same TV... I love it.

I would agree on the passing on the plasma thing. Now that LCDs are getting to be big enough and not as outragously expensive they are definately the way to go.

For a dorm room (setting aside my initial reaction of having an LCD TV in a dorm), I would probably go with the 32" model. The 40's really pretty big.

Default nice rack..

I'm talking about those book shelves. Noticed the Kern book at the end of the shelf - a very close friend of mine modeled for him a few years back. Did some work with Eric Kroll, too.

I imagine that you have other interesting material in the center of that shelf...

Default 36" plasma was about $5000 - Sony rocks!

I actually got it when the prices were still kinda up there, I am sure you can get it cheaper now though!

Default 42" Plasma. More than happy with it.I paid $1500 for an ED no-namer from best buy and comparing it..

to my bosses $6000 Sony HD, I can tell very little difference even on the HD Cable channels. Deffo not $4500 difference...

If size and higher end quality is ok for you then look at ED. If top end quality is important, then HD. Go to your local store and compare
