Paging Mr Bipes: I have been told that you are the master at integrating a Nokia...

It includes a detailed description of the installation he did by using a phonemute device as well as creating his own control box and speaker amp. I plan on having a speaker shop do a similar install using my StarTac.

http://home.attbi.com/~woodyb/handsfree/</a

I'd like to buy the parts and try making this myself as it seems to not require any cutting or splicing of TT parts (I lease). BTW, I have the Motorola v60c from Verizon so I can't just buy the (way too costly) Audi kit for my 2001 TTQC.
Thanks!
Thanks!

In order to make this work for you, you would need the cell phone, the 'Hands free' kit, and some time to get this to work.
You will need to dis-assemble the hands free unit, and match the schematic of the TT's phone system into the speaker-out, mike, power, muting, etc.
Even then, I cannot guarantee that it *will* work.
This is something a car stereo place *Might* be able to do, but you would need to find a good one.

Some of your information is correct, some is not.
I once tried to make a "Generic" cell phone adapter, using various parts. This would connect to the cell phone ear bud socket, cell phone power, have a current-sensing Mute function, etc.
It did not work very well.
I used the set of documents from the TT forum to make the "Box" myself.
My idea was to perhaps make this unit available to all. No Go.

The key issue here is finding a "good" stereo installation place in Sioux City, IA. Not gonna happen and I'm not gonna drive 100 miles to Omaha, NE to find one.
I was hoping to be able to buy the needed parts at either my local Rat Shack or online (the mute circuit, etc.) and be able to build the thing following a schematic, instructions, etc... I do have my BSEE although it's been a LONG time since I've used it given that I've been employed as a Human Factors Engineer since college.
My Moto v.60c phone has a standard headset jack and I have a cig adapater for power when needed. Optimally, I would like to build the interface box that has RJ-45 connector and the trunk box that modifies the mute circuit. If all this is a tad too complex to describe remotely, I guess I'll just live with using a headrest mounted handsfree kit that is not integrated into the TT's subsystems.
I'd really like to get the Audi v.60c handsfree kit, but 1) WAY too expensive and 2) I'd have to dump my Verizon v.60c for the Audi-branded version that is also WAY too expensive.
Thanks anyway.
