Tour de France. It starts on July 7 and ends in Paris on July 29 - but looks like you'll miss it.

Default Any sidewalk cafe on the Champs Elysees, Check out the Latin Quarter,

Watch your back at ATM's, and if you're driving, have fun in the circle around the Arc de Triomphe.

Default Paris...

Paris is a great town. Try and get to a 2 or 3 star restaurant while you are there - it's amazing.
As far as hotels go I like the Hotel des Sts Peres.
65, rue des Saints-Pères, 6th arrdt.- Metro : Saint-Germain-des-Prés or Sèvres-Babylone
Tel : + 33 (0)1 45 44 50 00

Keep in mind paris is FULL of tousists in august - I would almost recommend going in July if you can. All the parisians go to the south of france in august - and lines for the museums are very long.

Also i saw a TT the last time I was in Paris (obligatory TT content).<ul><li><a href="http://www.paris-trendy.com/NOTEBOOK/ST-GERMAIN/st-germain_e.html">Some more hotels</a></li></ul>

Default if you like art--don't miss the Gustav Moreau house

a monument to one of the true iconoclasts of 20th century painting.

Jeux des Pommes (impressionist museum) is also great.

Go to the Bois de Vincennes (sp?) a beautiful park/lake/forest on the outskirts of Paris and rent a row boat. Bring along a picnic. Tres romantique!

The Paris flea market is also fantastic. I think it's only on Sunday. It's been a long time since my last trip to Paris...

Default There is sooo much to do. Book hotels well in advance... (LONG)

You are looking at high season vacation time in Paris. I did Paris 1.5 years ago (Sept) and had a great time. It was part of a larger trip I took that brought me (driving) from Nice to Paris.

Unless you absolutely need to, DO NOT DRIVE IN PARIS! There is no parking (unless you consider the double parking, parking). The roads are poorly marked (compared to the rest of France I visited). It is crazy, unless you know the city. I was extremely happy to ditch the car in Paris and rely on taxis, transit + walking.

DO NOT: look like a tourist. I seemed to blend in. Unfortunately not looking like a tourist might mean losing the TT hat (sigh).

DO: Definitely take in the cafe's and local restaurants (there are many very good ones) but be careful of which street. A cup of tea in a posh location can run you 50FF (about $10). One street over, back to normal $ - with the same ambience. The house wine is usually great!

DO: Walk the city (it's not that big): definitely walk the Champs-Elysees to the Arc de Triomphe. Go to the top of the Arc and look at all the crazy drivers below (yikes!).

<img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/9194/paris_04.jpg">

DO: Moulon Rouge (It was a lot of fun).

DO: Versailles + Trianons (and Marie Antoinette's playground)

DO: If you have time, consider a day trip to Reims for a Champagne tour. I visited the Pommery, but I am sure others would be as interesting.

DO: Louvre - you have to see the Mona Lisa, unfortunately, pictures of this "tiny" painting do not turn out because of the protective glass in front.

<img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/9194/paris_05.jpg">

There was a tour operation that was pretty good to bring you around the sites - "Cityrama". They ran package deals and are good for any day trips you might be interested in.

There is a lot to do, I still have more to do the next time I go back.

Send me an e-mail if you have any more questions (I can also send you lots of pictures).
