Reomve the small valance panel to the right of the accelerator pedal first. It comes out with 2 screws.
Remove the fuse cover panel.
Remove all the torx screws.
(I think you can take half the car apart witht a T-20 Torx bit.)
Remove the panel from under the steering wheel. One screw holding this in place, is one you removed in the in the fuse box area.
Remove the 2 screws on the bottom of the panel, pull the panel forward, and the top comes off 2 posts that clip to the underside of the panel. It'll drop right in your face, if you are anywhere close, and you need to be. You can leave it hang, being mindfull of the now dangling fuse panel!
It is fully protected, and you can move it to horizontal, taking care to watch the wire bundles. You will need to take off the back of the *back* of the fuse panel, for access to the wires behind the fuse. I needed a magnifying glass to find the fuse number on the panel diagram, corolate the "fused" side of fuse #5, and solder a cable to that. I used the yellow painted screw as ground.
Some fidling is necessary to get it behind the radio cover, and not to let the cable bind the cover.
Remove the similar screws at the top of the inside of the glove box (3), and it hangs down enuf to fish the cable through. There is enuf room to dress it through behind the radio cover, and not have it bind.
Careful attention to details, and getting all the screws back, and you have it.<p><A HREF="mailto:jbipes@mtn.org"><img SRC="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/AudiWorldPics/2000/bipecott.gif" BORDER=0 alt="Jeff Bipes"></a>

Thanks for this information. I'm going to attempt to do the same for my V1. Sounds like you took the wires up the center of the car. Did you attempt to do send the wire anywhere else? I'm curious if I can send the wires up near the center vents on the dash???

try pulling the wires directly from the fusebox and stuffing them between the rubber and the front pillar trim (they disappear). Now fish the wire through the pillar/roof trim (from the left side to the right or more-interior side) and then run/tuck the wire into the cavity between the windshield and the roof trim. This means mounting the unit just slightly below the rear view mirror. (I didn't install TTNancy's this way. I was in a hurry and I did the center console thing, mounting a power socket beneath the ashtray and used the supplied coiled wire instead as it seems to fit the a/c coils which it drops down near.) Good luck. The first method was the one installed in my A6 and looking at the TT seems it would work there also.
