Default It pays to have well placed friends (long)

Remember my snapped camshaft (225ttr) - and the bent exhaust valves? And Audi Client Relations that specified there was no "reunite policy" to get me and my car (when fixed) back together from 4+ hours away?

Well there's good news to be had. A friend (met on the A4 forum) had a contact at AOA who has helped folks before. I've been talking with this person the last couple of days and told him my tale of woe. Also told him the family has an A6 and A4 and that my dad ordered a TTR as well. And I think a useful thing - that there is an upcoming audi club meet next weekend with many cars and news coverage and that I had registered to take my car. I told him I'd love to go to the event with my car, but at the least I wanted to go and tell everyone that Audi was doing the right thing. The alternative would me being unhappy about AOA not doing the right thing.

Whether any of the above mattered is not known; but the regional rep (directed by this AOA big shot) spoke with the servicing dealer. When he found out that there was piston damage, he immediately told them to order a new engine. He called me and said the dealer should have the new engine tomorrow (thurs!) - WOW. None of this would have moved so fast (or so well?) if this AOA representative hadn't come into the mix. He moved people quickly and seems to have the authority to get parts and delivery them quickly as well.

If all goes well, a miracle will have happened - the car will be road capable next Tues.

Never would have guessed that AOA could muster all of this so quick, but I learned from another forum source that NJ happens to be a supply warehouse location for AOA. Lucky me!

More info as I get it - I'll be confirming the engine has arrived tomorrow. And I'll be 'bothering' the dealer for status as well.

Oh, and though there is no "reunite policy" (whatever that means) I was told that if I arrange shipping, AOA will pay up to a certain $$ amount. Or they will provide hotel if I go down to get the car myself. There were other options; I need to work details with Enterprise. They are giving us all trouble about where the rental car can be returned...

There aren't enough thanks for the help I got from forum folks! You know who you are!

To be continued.

Default BTW

The dealer had ordered a new head and he said valves but some info I got indicated heads came with valves, etc. complete - hmm, smoke?

The dealer was moving as if he would repair the engine by swapping out the head but using the same block, even the same pistons! Ouch...

A new engine is way better for sure!

Default This is EXCELLENT news Julie! Let us know how it works out.

And by "audi club meet next weekend" I assume that you mean the Aftermarket Summer event in Danvers MA, yes? If so, see you there! I'll be the one with a '01 225TTQC silver/blue w/ NJ plates.
