Performance Driving tips for Quattro and 225Hp(More Turbo Lag)..
#11
From a stop sign or light...
it's easy: just bring the revs to 2K or more, ease into the clutch momentarily to load the engine (don't let the rev drop below 2K) and TAKE OFF (give gas and let off the clutch simultaneously)! Watch the revs 'cause you're gonna be at redline a lot sooner than you think, the shift to second is almost instantaneous.
One small note: the odor that you will soon get a whiff of is blazing hot clutch.
-EJS, 2001 225TTC, Silver/Black

I don't have a Bailey valve. I've only had the car for 2 months and 1200 miles
I haven't noticed a problem yet and the Turbo lag is not a big problem.

Great tips. I am having so much fun with this car ...
the parking lot idea is a great idea. I just don't want to do something stupid and wreck it or myself. Thanks for all of your advice.

Yes, it eliminates low rev surging.

Sorry to disagree with you on this one Ellen .. .
Teh Bailey valve is a very small reason as to why the car came back to life! The main reason is resetting the ECU. You do not have too many miles on the car and I am sure you followed the "break-in" period and the ECU learned slower type of driving. Once the ECU is reset, then you drive it hard, the performance increases.
Anyone can do this to their car, WITHOUT a new DV and will see better performance. Don't believe me, give it a shot!

This is contrary to what others who have not immediately reset the ECU after the Bailey install have
reported. I'd do a search and tell you who specifically but I'm too lazy right now.
P.S. Ask Michael how much he "babied" his TT during break-in. ;-)

This is exaclty what the ECU learns...
If you had a bad dv from day one the car learns this from day 1. If you had put in another stock dv and it worked the car would have been better from that day forward, so long as the ECU were reset.
