Default phatBox TT?

I was told by my audi dealership that the phatbox doesn't work in the TT. I'm not sure what they mean by doesn't work, whether it's not compatible with the stereo or whether it just doesn't fit where the cd changer goes. Anyone have any ideas?

Default My dealer installed a Phatbox for me

I was going to use my iPod and do the Jeff Bipes thing but just got lazy. My windshield washer had to be fixed and so the car was at the dealership anyway. I decided "what the heck" and let the dealer do a Phatbox install.

I have a 2001 TT Roadster. It was the first install which the dealer had done (this goes back a couple of months). It appears that they used a file on the opening a bit to permit the cartridge to go in/out easily, but that's only noticeable if you have the door open.

The Phatbox is sweet and I really like it. It was pretty obscenely expensive to let the dealership do it, but to me the it was worth the peace of mind and convenience (like I said, the car was there anyway).

If anyone wants to buy a Bose Concert OEM CD changer, let me know!!

Default Hey JusTT, do you have any further detailed posts re: your install?

I've asked my dealer's sales rep, parts crew, and mechanics about it, and all of them seem to be hearing about it for the first time from me. Ideally I'd like for my dealership to give me some kind of back-credit for the bose cd changer (no need for it) if I have the Phatbox installed immediately when my 3.2 gets here, but I'm probably dreaming. Also, were there any complications with the wiring since the Phatbox has to go in the trunk?

Default Sure

Well, I don't know squat about the coupe, but on a roadster, the changer is accessed through a door inside the cabin. They pulled out the changer, stuck in the Phatbox, and charged me an arm and a leg. It's a straight unplug/plug-in situation.

If you go to phatnoise.com, they have the Audi part numbers. It will be hard for your dealer to disavow knowledge when you are armed with an offical Audi part number!!

My dealership seemed a little in the dark when I first mentioned it also. After I gave them the part number, they actually got excited about doing it cuz mine was the first one. From what they tell me, there was a group of techs crowded around, all watching and learning.

Its a really great system, much better than I expected.

Default Phatbox is a no brainer install.. the hardest part is pulling the OEM changer out. It uses...

the stock changer wire, plug and play basicly.
